WHO IS A POOR PERSON?
Prophet Muhammad (sal’ Allaahu ‘alayihi wa sallam) said:
Do you know who is a poor person? A poor person in my community is someone who will come on the Day of Resurrection backed with prayers, fasting, regular charity, and pilgrimage, but also with a number of injustices to others, such as abusing this one, taking the property of that one, slandering someone, hitting another, or shedding the blood of someone else. Thereafter, (that person’s) good deeds will be taken one after one and will be given to (those) who were wronged by him.
Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1179
SubhanAllah. We ask Allah to save us from being one who is poor.
ameen
Ameen.
SubhaanAllah, what makes the hadeeth more frightening however is that it brings up the Qantarah (where the Muslimeen will take hasanaat from one another).
Test after test on that day, subhaanAllah. After we pass the siraat (if we pass the siraat — may our emaan be a shining light of guidance on the bridge), we will have to pass through the Qantarah, where our good deeds may be up for the taking. SubhaanAllah.
May Allah ta’ala protect us on that day and make us of the rich (with an abundance of good deeds).
Subhaanallaah. I did not know that the siraat came before this. What a trial! Nasalullaah as-salaama wal ‘afiya
